International Study Partner, Eduquest International Pte Ltd gets CMI Management Qualifications approved for Higher Level Government Funding in Singapore.

Exponential Training & Assessment Ltd is delighted to announce that International Study Partner, Eduquest International PTE, has successfully been approved by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) for higher level funding towards the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 3 and 5 Management & Leadership Award and Certificate qualifications.

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) was formed to lead and drive workforce development in Singapore. Its mission is to enhance the employability and competitiveness of everyone in the workforce, from the young to old workers, from the rank-and-file to professionals, managers and executives.

To achieve its mission, WDA develops the national Continuing Education and Training (CET) infrastructure, leveraging an established network of Industry Skills and Development Councils to help it chart the future of manpower development in each economic sector. Integral to the national CET infrastructure is the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system where training is delivered through the CET Centres and a network of training providers. WDA also works with partners including employers, industry leaders, the Unions, other Governmental agencies and training organisations to roll out CET programmes and initiatives to develop a pipeline of skilled workers to meet industry needs.

Employer-based funding

Employers are best placed to know what kind of training is needed to sustain and develop the organisation and therefore through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) they can enjoy grants for staff training. This includes the CMI programmes targeted at PMETs (Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians), which are eligible for the funding of 50% of course fees capped at $15 per hour.

Eduquest Director, Mohamed Rabeek Ravuthar said “The funding will encourage employers to opt for CMI qualifications to develop their managers to be part of the professional global community. We are very proud to share that we have achieved our first milestone and our team is very excited to promote the CMI qualifications and membership in Singapore.”

The general eligibility criteria are listed as follows:

  • Companies are registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Supportable cost components (such as Course fees) are fully sponsored by companies
  • Trainees are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents of Singapore
  • Trainees have achieved at least 75% attendance and have sat for all examinations

In an interview with Eduquest Director, Mohamed Rabeek Ravuthar, he explained: “The Ministry of Manpower and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency in Singapore has launched the STEP or Skills Training for Excellence Programme to help Professionals, Managers, Executive and Technicians (PMETs) update their skills, knowledge and expertise so that they can remain competitive and employable.”

“Eduquest is contributing its part in support of the government’s effort to encourage workers at PMET levels to upgrade their skills in management & leadership by promoting courses from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) as this will be key towards sustainable productivity-driven growth in Singapore, to be equipped with not only deep and specialised skills, but to also possess relevant generic, broad-based, horizontal skills sets or what we call the T-shaped PMETS.”

“We see this funding approval as a big opportunity to spread awareness about CMI and to promote CMI qualifications, especially to the corporate in Singapore. Employers can use the Skills Development Fund (SDF) to train their employees by attending CMI courses at the maximum of 50% course fee capped at S$ 15 per hour with absentees’ payroll S$ 4.50 per hour. This will create a sustainable market for the Chartered Management Institute qualifications delivered through the partnership between ETA and EQI. Subsequently, this will contribute to the growth of the CMI membership in Singapore”.

Eduquest provides training and development opportunities for adult learners in competency-based education, as well as other corporate training programmes, whilst charting capabilities for career advancement of the individual and mapping out corporate leadership development of the organisation. Eduquest will also play a lead role in marketing and delivering CMI qualifications in Singapore to impact upon the productivity, competitiveness, performance and skills of managers, leaders and organisations in Singapore.

Eduquest is currently offering Level 3 and Level 5 Award and Certificate programmes in First Line Management and Management & Leadership. It plans to deliver Diploma qualifications in the near future.
