South Africa now has their first Fellow level members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Consulting (IC).

We can now congratulate and welcome our first Fellow members of the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Consulting (IC) in South Africa, Mr Paul Harding FCMI and Mr Willem Boonzaaier FIC

Profile: Mr Paul Harding FCMI

Mr Paul Harding FCMI is Managing Director of the South African Quality Institute and has over 35 years management experience. When asked how he felt about being a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute he said, “It is a great honour that my more than 35 years of work in the management arena has been recognised”. Mr Harding went on to say “Whilst I have been recognised by local institutions it is very important that the work done in South Africa is also acknowledged by internationally recognised bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Consulting”.

By applying to become a member of the both CMI and IC you are making a commitment to develop others and agreeing to develop your own management skills and professionalism. When asked why continuous professional development was important in South Africa, Mr Harding explained “I believe in the principle of lifetime learning. You are never too old to learn new ideas and take on new challenges. Training and continuous education is necessary to keep up with modern trends and developments”. He went on to say “I think it is important for every experienced person to share their knowledge and experiences with others. Being a member of the Chartered Management Institute gives an ideal platform to both give and receive valuable information and experience in the management development process”.
