Exponential is Going Circular

Exponential is Going Circular
19 June 2019 John Moore

Be part of the Circular Economy – that is the aim of the Erasmus+ Skill Circle project lead by one of Exponential Training’s Romanian partners, Fundatia Centrul Educational Spektrum

The Skill Circle Course

The main aim of Skill Circle course is to educate people about how businesses can be sustainable, profitable and great places to work without damaging the environment. The course also aims to change people’s mindset and to help entrepreneurs to develop key entrepreneurial competences that will help with the development of the circular economy.

The new on-line course is FREE and explores the concept of a circular economy. It looks at current circular thinking and practices throughout Europe and across different sectors. The course contains dozens of examples of businesses that are already benefiting from having developed their businesses using circular design principles as well as tools and templates to help you to plan and re-design processes and to help make your business more environmentally friendly.

Exponential Training Director, John Moore said:

“Before Exponential Training was involved in Skill Circle, I thought we were pretty good as an environmentally, friendly and sustainable business. I suppose we were compared to many businesses, but there was and still is lots more that we can do.

We used to replace our laptops every two years, but now we try to up-grade them if possible, rather than buying a new one. We used to print thousands of pages handouts and course manuals and now we provide them on USB drives or on our cloud-based learning platforms. We used to drive to work every day, now we have the flexibility to work from home remotely.  None of the many small changes we have made are significant, but collectively they add up.”

Using the ReSOLVE framework, (Regenerate, Share, Optimise, Loop, Virtualise, and Exchange), Exponential Training has made many changes including:

  • RE-GENERATE– Exponential moved to one of the green energy suppliers
  • SHARE – Resources are now shared through ‘hotdesking’ reducing the number of laptops that are required by the team.
  • OPTIMISE – removing paper and printing of course materials from the production of our courses.
  • LOOP – up-grade and re-use of old laptops
  • VIRTUALISE – Creation of cloud-based learning and assessment portals (i.e. LEAP and ManagementDirect).
