Exponential Training is one of five European partners taking part in the Erasmus+ project: Recognising Cultural Heritage Opportunities for Tourism Enterprises (ROOTS). This month sees the launch of the ROOTS learning portal and the first ROOTS training course in the UK.
Join the ROOTS Course
The ROOTS Erasmus+ project started in September 2017 and is now launching the ROOTs training course in the UK. On Wednesday 29 May, local cultural tourism enterprises along with a team of business advisors and coaches will get their first glimpse of the new, on-line ROOTs learning portal.
The aim of the ROOTS course is to enable managers and owner/directors of cultural and heritage tourism businesses to understand how they can maximise the value of the ROOTS project and resources and to exploit opportunities locally and regionally for their business. It will also enable business advisors and other stakeholders engaged in the support and development of the sector to advance their skills and expertise.
On completion of the course, delegates will have explored how to exploit opportunities available to their own business and will have access to the on-line learning platform. The course will cover the following topics:
- Explore what is meant by the term, ‘cultural and heritage tourism’
- Understand 21st century tourism
- Develop Cultural and Heritage Products and Services
- Promote Cultural and Heritage Tourism
- Build a Cultural and Heritage Tourism Network and Community
- Prepare a plan to maximise the value of completing the ROOTS blended learning programme
In addition to the course modules, there are practical self-assessment exercises for managers and owners/directors to evaluate their businesses. Throughout the course, there is an array of tools designed to help delegates to plan and improve their enterprise. The course will be delivered by Exponential Training’s Managing Director, John Moore.
John said: “This is a practical, hands-on course based on research and good practice drawn from cultural heritage enterprises from across Europe. I think local and regional councils; enterprise agencies and Local Learning Enterprise Partnerships will find the ROOTs course and learning portal a real asset in their quest to promote and develop this important sector of the economy.
Since place are limited, places will be allocated on a ‘first come, first-served’ basis. The first course will comprise four local tourism businesses and four local stakeholders such as business advisors. Having the two groups on the same course will help to build stronger relationships between industry and advisors”.
