How often do you hear experts preaching, but not practicing what they preach? Not at Exponential as Directors, John and Michelle, achieve Chartered Manager status.
The Chartered Manager is the hallmark of a professional manager, putting management on an equal footing with established professions such as accounting, architecture and engineering. Whilst qualifications prove that managers know the theory, Chartered status proves that managers are using it on the job and getting results.
A pre-requisite for the Chartered Manager is that managers have to prove that they have made a difference to the bottom line. The rigorous assessment process which is undertaken by specialist assessors is both challenging and developmental. Exponential Director, Michelle Moore said, “When I was preparing for the assessment, I was amazed at how beneficial I found the reflection process. It helped me to think at a much deeper level about leadership, strategy and performance than I have previously”.
How can you become a Chartered Manager? There are three simple steps:
- Complete the online assessment questionnaire and ask six colleagues to complete it as well
- Prepare a submission describing how you have applied leadership and change management skills to improve performance in your organisation over the last 18 months, and how you have developed
- Book and take part in an assessment interview
Impressed with the power of the assessment process, Michelle and her colleague Anne-Marie are now training to become Assessors for the Chartered Manager award. “We are very excited about the Chartered Manager award as we have been asked by the Services SETA in South Africa to assess over 150 managers using the Chartered Manager as an international benchmark”, added Michelle.
