Become a Chartered Manager (CMgr)

Become a Chartered Manager (CMgr)
31 July 2014 James Dillon

From next month, Exponential will be one of a very small number of Approved Chartered Manager Centres appointed by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to support managers to become a Chartered Manager.

If you have completed or are working towards a Diploma qualification at Level 5 or 7, you will have the opportunity to become a Chartered Manager. Being a Chartered Manager is recognition that you are a consistent high performer, that you are committed to current best practice and that you behave ethically. Being a Chartered Manager is an independent endorsement of a manager’s ability to manage and lead and to make a positive impact upon organisational performance.

The ‘CMgr Exemption Upgrade’ application reviews:

  • Management experience – minimum of 3 years
  • Applied learning to deliver effective management practice within the last 18 months
  • Commitment to CMI Code of Practice
  • CPD plan for next 18 months

I achieved Chartered Manager status this month which means that the entire Exponential Management Team are now Chartered Managers. I do not say this to impress you, but to impress upon you that at Exponential we believe in what we do. We aim to improve the performance of managers and organisations and we practice what we advocate – investment in people and managers.

My experience of becoming a Chartered Manager

I joined Exponential Training straight from University just five years ago and have developed and grown tremendously in this time. I have learned a huge amount about management and leadership, consulting and coaching, but more importantly, Exponential Training gave me the opportunity to lead the Company’s digital marketing and sales strategy. I am proud to be a part of Exponential and of my contribution: because of my work, Exponential now has students in 45 different countries – when I joined it was just three!

My colleague Anne-Marie Daly also recognises how she has grown and developed and been able to make a difference to Exponential and hundreds of managers, business coaches and consultants. She has developed Exponential’s online coaching and assessment model and is now responsible for providing exceptional service and support for Exponential students – this is not me saying this, this is what our customer feedback surveys tell us!
