Background:

Business Coach and Mentor, Adrian Holdstock of Galilee Coaching and Mentoring has a wealth of experience in management and leadership gained from 30 years in industry. After taking voluntary redundancy in 2006 Adrian recognised that he could make a difference by sharing his acquired knowledge and expertise with others. Wanting to approach this in a professional way Adrian successfully completed the Diploma in Life Coaching and began by providing coaching, usually a maximum of four sessions, to clients.

“I recognised that I was not going to make a living in this way so decided I needed to make some long term plans. It was when I was coaching a printer in how to achieve a work/life balance that I acknowledged I had a lot more to give. My skills from working with large organisations could be put to good use and I decided to broaden my coaching base and draw on my background”.

Challenge:

Adrian wanted to develop himself further in the coaching arena and knew that if he was going to be accepted as a business coach he would need to study for further qualifications in Coaching & Mentoring.

“I needed something to confirm 30 years of past experience and which would count in the world of business coaching. Having been accepted on the Mentoring for All scheme meant I was being introduced to small businesses and made me realise even more that I needed to gain further qualifications.”

Action:

Adrian enrolled on the CMI Diploma in Strategic Business Coaching programme delivered by Exponential Training and awarded by CMI.

“It was important to me to gain this qualification as there was an element of self respect and reassurance that I’d got what it needed and I knew what I was talking about when providing business support! I found the delivery of the programme both effective and efficient, in particular enjoying exploring what the online learning resources had to offer.

It’s important to me to keep up to date with new and alternative techniques and tools I can use. An important part of my ethos is to keep up to date with what’s happening in the environment and the economy and networking with others on the programme provided that opportunity”

Impact:

How has Adrian benefited from successfully completing the Coaching & Mentoring qualification? Well, Adrian was accepted as a High Growth Coach on the Coaching for High Growth Programme in 2010 and is now delighted his coaching relationship with the companies he worked with continues as he still provides them with coaching, but through his own business.

Adrian is delighted with the way his business has developed and sees his niche as:

“Having a breadth of coaching skills to offer in Personal Coaching, Team Coaching, Executive Coaching, Business Coaching and Spirituality Coaching.”

He is moving on and whilst continuing to deliver coaching through Galilee Coaching and Mentoring he will now also be applying his business experience within the Church.
