That’s a wrap for Project IPEC in 2017!

The Project IPEC partners met in festive Amsterdam and signed off more of the Erasmus+ project outputs and results. The next step is for 100+ small businesses in Italy, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus and Greece to use IPEC.

What is IPEC?

There are two parts to IPEC. The first part is a simple four stage model for planning and executing projects. Used on its own, the IPEC Model provides a simple step-by-step approach to planning and implementing projects.

The second part is a web-based project tool based on the IPEC model. Once registered on the IPEC web-based tool, you can plan and manage your projects. The tool helps you to prepare your project charter, form your project team, plan your project activities, assess potential risks and to allocate and manage project tasks.

In my experience, smaller businesses find most of the approaches to project management too complex for their needs. I like the simplicity of the IPEC Model. We set out to develop a ‘micro lite’ project management model based on the needs of micro and small enterprises. We came up with the IPEC project cycle: Initiate, Plan, Execute, Close.

On its own the IPEC Model can transform the way enterprises and managers design and implement projects. For instance, I have already started to include the IPEC Model in our Chartered Management Institute qualification programmes such as the Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

However, simply by registering on the Project IPEC web site, you can use the web-based Project IPEC tool. The tool includes a guide om how to use IPEC, but also e-learning explaining how to use the IPEC tool.

Like all new techniques and web-based tools, there is a period of learning, but once you have mastered the basics of Project IPEC, you will soon enjoythe five main benefits of IPEC:
