Usewine – A Toast to the New Year!

Business traditionally focuses on the bottom-line meaning profits. The Usewine project is about the triple bottom-line: PROFITS, PEOPLE and PLANET. How well is your organisation doing on its triple bottom-line?

What is the Usewine Triple Bottom-line?

The phrase “the triple bottom line” was first coined by John Elkington, the founder of a British consultancy called SustainAbility. He proposed that companies should be preparing three different (and quite separate) bottom lines. The triple bottom line (TBL) therefore consists of three Ps: profit, people and planet and aims to measure the financial, social and environmental performance of companies.

The Usewine TBL Tool designed specifically for the wine sector was used to benchmark over 200 wine businesses across seven European countries including the UK. In addition to individual benchmark reports for each vineyard, the Usewine project also prepared a European benchmark report comparing the performance of vineyards in the UK, France, Spain, Cyprus, Poland, Austria and Romania.

Training TBL Facilitators and Coaches

As part of the Usewine Erasmus+ project, Exponential Training delivered a new training course accredited by the Chartered Management Institute called the Triple Bottom-line Facilitator. As a result, there are now teams of Usewine Facilitators and Coaches in Cyprus, Austria, Poland, France, Romania, UK and Spain.

The Usewine Facilitators and Coaches are now working with over 70 wineries and vineyards throughout Europe to help them to implement the Usewine TBL model.

Exponential Training Project Manager, John More said, “I believe the Triple Bottom-line model can make a huge difference to the performance of most businesses.  I am looking forward to rolling out the plans next year so more business coaches can become trained in using the model."
