Make a Difference on Blue Monday

Whether you believe in it or not, today is supposedly 'Blue Monday' and comes at a time when people might need a bit of cheering up! Blue Monday is the day we are supposed to feel more unhappy than at any other time of the year.

According to "research", Blue Monday occurs on the 3rd Monday of January each year and for 2016, that is today. Some say it is the second Monday, or the fourth Monday really it makes no difference. The gloomy, post-Christmas, back-to-work month of January can understandably be a difficult time of year however, you can make a difference!

Whether you believe Blue Monday exists or even if you think it is all pseudoscientific, there is enough evidence to suggest the New Year is a time for many of us to assess how life is going and to plan change in order to progress. Research from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) found that January was when most workers were dissatisfied with their current job – with one in five (19%) planning to change their role this year and almost 80 per cent wanting to work for a different company.

At Exponential Training, we view Blue Monday as a special day for people to focus on doing good for each other. It could be something big or something small like a present, a message or just little acts of kindness.
