EXAMPLE MODULE: Consulting Essentials: Part One *EXTRACT*

Aim:

To provide an introduction to the essentials of management consultancy

Programme Description:

The purpose of Consulting Essentials is to explore the role of the management consultant. During the three learning modules, you will consider the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours required to be an effective consultant.

You will explore the need for and the importance of adopting ethical standards or codes of conduct and how they can be used to evaluate your current knowledge, skills and behaviours to plan your future professional development.

The modules also explore the development of the consultancy market and review the different stages of the consulting cycle as well as common consulting interventions. You will learn about a range of tools and techniques that support effective interaction with clients. The role of effective communication and communication techniques will also be explored.

Finally, the modules provide an overview of project delivery including risk assessment, research and analysis and report writing.
